Flutter
by
Olivia Evans
Synopsis
Dylan Walker has spent six years trying to move on from the loss of his girlfriend, Presley Cooper. Motivated by grief and the desire to do for others what he couldn’t do for her, he burns the candle at both ends to make it through medical school. After graduation he moves west, putting as much distance as possible between his past and his present.
Or so he thought.
Unknowingly, Dylan has been set on a path that will destroy everything he thought he knew. All the pain, all the grief, was all for nothing. With the help of an unexpected ally, Dylan must find the answers and save the girl he loves before it’s too late.
Deceit.
Betrayal.
Revenge.
A second chance at love.
But first, he must find a way to make her remember her past. Remember him. Remember everything.

Excerpt:
Tears filled Presley’s eyes, and her face reddened. “God, my father’s an asshole.”

Dylan nodded. “He is. But we just have to get through the rest of this year, then he’ll no longer have a say about anything. If I could, I’d move you in with me now, but as cool as my family is, they do have their limits. Shacking up isn’t something they’re too keen on. Once we graduate and I get my trust, it won’t matter what he says. I’ll take care of you.”

Presley swiped under her eye and shook her head. “Don’t be ridiculous. I’d never ask you to take care of me. I could get a job or something.”

Dylan laughed and lifted his hands, cupping her face. “You never would have to ask me to take care of you. Don’t you get it? I want to. I want to do it for the rest of our lives. I know we’re young. We’re going to fight and scream and say hurtful things to each other. But, Presley, I’m not being naïve when I say you’re the only girl for me. I feel you in every part of me. You’re all I’ll ever want. I love you.”

Presley nodded and sighed. “Please don’t ever stop romancing the shit out of me. I really fucking love it. I love the butterflies you give me.”

“Speaking of butterflies,” Dylan said, reaching into his pocket. “I got you something. It was supposed to be for Valentine’s Day, but after the last twenty-four hours, I thought you could use something to cheer you up.

“You cheer me up,” Presley argued with a smile.

“Just open it,” he whispered, placing the small blue box in her hand.

“What have you done?” she asked, pulling off the lid. A gasp left her lips as her fingers trailed over the necklace inside. “Dylan…”

He pulled it from the box, the red and black stones fitted inside the butterfly charm glinting in the early morning sun. “Turn around,” he murmured. Clasping the chain around her neck, he moved in front of her and smiled. “It looks perfect.”

Presley nodded, her eyes glassy. “You really do make everything flutter.”

The life of a session musician is rarely easy. After consecutive tour cancellations and a stack of unpaid bills, Chloe Bennett fears her dream has come to an end.
Then everything changes.
Indie rocker Reid Ryder needs a replacement violinist for his tour. For Chloe, it’s the opportunity of a lifetime. For Reid, it’s a checkmark off his list. Already battling addiction, guilt, and his inability to write new music, Reid's hopeful that things are finally falling into place.
But life is never predictable.
When the tour begins, he finds himself drawn to Chloe. She challenges and inspires him. Their onstage chemistry is electric. To the outside world, they’re the perfect match. To those involved, however, it’s not so simple. When Reid’s no longer sure that the future he planned is the one he wants, a choice must be made.
Love...or loyalty.

In three days, they would head back to the States. In three days, he would wake up and Chloe wouldn’t be there. The pit of his stomach twisted and his chest tightened. She wasn’t even gone, and he missed her already. Just the thought of being away from her, even though she was sitting right next to him, hurt more than Jess being on the other side of the world. It was the first time Reid truly began to realize just how far he’d fallen.

~ Review ~
What an introduction to a new author.  I absolutely devoured this book. All of the characters in this book were engaging in their own right.  The chemistry between Reid and Chloe off charts.  I was routing for them from the start hoping that they would each find what it was that they were looking for.

Reid has already reached the point in his career in which fame and notoriety come with it.  He also has the baggage and the demons that come with the lifestyle of a musician as well.  Heading back out on the road will prove to test him in more ways than one.

Chloe has not yet found her way in love or music.  But when an opportunity to tour with Reid's band lands in her lap, she is determined to make the most of the situation.  Although she readies herself for life on the road in close quarters, she could not prepare for her feelings.

Loved how easy it was for Greer to incite jealousy in Reid.  Pushing his buttons seemed to be his favorite job.  Chloe and Reid's attraction to each other evident to all but themselves.  Would they be able to remain solely band mates or will they find more than music on the road?

Chloe's easy going way made her very likeable. Her addiction to Starbursts and her fondness of Star Wars adorable.  I think that the fact that she didn't fall to the fame and stayed true to herself made her that more desirable to Reid.

I can't say enough about Reid.   What's not to like?  A sexy and overprotective musican....Swoon.   I truly felt for him and his demons.  However holding onto the past will prevent  you from living life and building a future.  A lesson Reid slowly learns from Chloe without even knowing.

If you are new to this author, as I was, this will be a great introduction to her work.  Grab your copy today see what everyone is talking about!
