I pulled the cruiser into Jackie’s driveway. What the hell was wrong with me? It was only yesterday that I’d gotten her off and yet here I was, sitting unannounced in her driveway like a stalker.

If I’d thought it difficult to get her off my mind before, what had happened in the wine cellar had made it damn near impossible.

Everyone I’d talked to had said the same thing—that she’d turned down each and every cop or fireman that had asked her out. No one was sure if she was just trying to keep her personal life outside of the work environment or what, but I intended to find out. The insane pull between us didn’t leave me any other choice.

With a sigh, I unbuckled my seatbelt and glanced at the small bungalow. It was cute with white siding and black shutters. Hanging baskets of colorful flowers hung from hooks around the veranda and a kickass bicycle was leaning against the side of the house. That helped to explain why she had such a firm ass.

I opened the door to the cruiser when the front door of the house burst open, and Jackie stood there frozen, her hand held to her chest and such an expression of fear on her face that I bolted out of the car and up the front steps.

“What’s wrong?” I demanded as soon as I was in front of her.

“Wh-what are you doing here?” she asked in barely a whisper.

I relaxed a fraction once it was clear she was okay. “I figured you could use a lift to Don’s place for your car. Didn’t think you would’ve driven home last night.” I shrugged. “It’s been quiet today, so I popped by to see if you wanted me to drive you over.”

She released a pent-up breath and relief washed over her face. “Oh, thank God.”

I frowned and gripped her upper arms. “What’s going on? Everything okay?”

She glanced down at where my hands lay on her soft skin and looked back up to me, blinking twice. “It’s nothing. When I saw the cruiser in the driveway...never mind.” She shook her head.

I studied her for a moment. She was sexy just rolling out of bed with her hair thrown in a messy bun and last night’s make-up still on her face. “You sure?”

She nodded and her eyes flicked down to my hands once more. “Why are you always touching me whenever I see you?” Her voice had come out all breathy, not at all convincing me that she didn’t like my hands right where they were.

I grazed her collarbones with my thumbs, causing goose bumps to form on her skin. “I think you know exactly why.”

Release Date: June 22, 2014

~ Synopsis ~
Sometimes you reach a point where you just can’t take any more – a breaking point some call it. The day I watched my husband murder the woman who was pregnant with his child, my point didn’t just break, it exploded like a magazine firing through the barrel of a fully-automatic AK-47. Literally. I am no longer his American Princess, nor am I his slave. Now, I’m a murderer in hiding. My name was Bryleigh Carter Oliveira and that was my story.

Translucent is one woman's story of breaking free, starting over, and learning to trust again through willful submission.

Meet Bryleigh Carter…

Picking me up off the bed, Ish threw me over his shoulder and marched out of the hotel room, into the pitch-black night. Scared speechless, I didn’t make a peep as he strode into the small motel office and dropped me on the floor. The male front desk attendant that had rented me the room had eyes as big as saucers, obviously fearful of Ish and the scene unfolding in front of him.
“Did you give her a room to stay in?” he demanded.
The older man nodded, taking a small step backwards.
“Don’t you fucking move, Gramps, and answer me when I ask you a goddamn question.”
“Y-yes, I gave her a room,” he admitted in a cracked voice.
“Did she pay you with money, or did she fuck you for it?”
“She paid me with money, sir. I don’t run that kind of business.” The man looked down at me huddled in a corner on the floor, and then back up at Ish. “She never even offered that kind of thing.”
Ish stomped around to the back of the counter and held his hand out, palm up. “She wants a refund. She’s not staying here tonight.”
Trembling, the man opened the cash register and pulled out some cash, setting it in Ish’s hand. As he did, Ish grabbed hold of his wrist and twisted it behind his back.
“Please…please don’t hurt me,” the man begged. “I didn’t know I was doing anything wrong.”
“No, you probably didn’t, but she did,” Ish spat, his fiery eyes darting over to me. “Princesa, did you know you were doing something wrong?”
The growing sob that had built in the back of my throat escaped as I nodded and said, “Yes, I did.”
“Well, someone needs to be punished for your bad behavior to remind you not to do something like this again.”
“Punish me, Ish,” I cried. “That poor man has nothing to do with this. Please, let him go.”
He glanced over at the man he held in a tight hold, and then back at me before releasing an evil laugh that echoed loudly throughout the small room. “Sorry, Princesa, but I need you to be pretty for our upcoming wedding.” Then, without warning, he pulled a long-bladed knife from the leg of his pants and chopped the man’s hand clear off in one swing. I’m not sure who screamed louder, me or the man, but within seconds, it was only my high-pitched voice shrieking, because Ish took the knife and slit the man’s throat, killing him instantaneously. Dropping the bloody body, he stalked towards me, bent down to my level, and clamped his hand on top of my mouth.
“Quiet now, Bryleigh, before you alert anyone else and I do the same thing to them. You don’t want to be the reason anyone else dies tonight, do you?” he whispered in my ear.
Immediately, I stop screaming, knowing damn well he would do exactly what he promised. “Now, that’s my good Princesa,” he said, stroking my hair. “We should get out of here. I’m going to carry you to the car, and I expect you to be well-behaved.”
Lifting me from the dirty tile floor, he carried me like a baby out to his car and placed me on the passenger seat. Petrified of what was going to happen next, I sat as still as a statue as he got into the car and drove north, back towards Chicago. He said nothing the entire drive home, but once we were both inside the apartment, he threw me on the bed and stripped me naked. Turning me over so that I was face-down on the mattress, he yanked forcefully on my hips, raising them in the air. He held tightly onto my hipbones as he viciously thrust himself into my virgin ass—no warning…no lube…nothing. I shouted out at the intense pain, and tears immediately began to stream down my face, but he didn’t stop thrusting until he was buried completely inside of me.
Leaning over, with his chest pressed to my back, he said in low, spine-chilling voice, “Anytime you fuck up, Princesa, someone will pay the price, and I will make you watch as I administer the punishment. You need to see the consequences of your actions, so don’t fuck up again if you don’t want any more blood on your conscience.”
He then fiercely fucked me until he came deep inside my asshole. He pulled out, not saying another word, then showered and left. I cried until I couldn’t see, and passed out with exhaustion.

That was the only time I ever tried to run away, but sadly, not the only bloodstains on my hands. It was only the beginning.

~ Review ~
This is the first book in the Luminous Series and WOW this book was AMAZING!!!!  This is not your everyday, boy meets girl, they have their struggles and run off into the sunset.  Oh it starts that way, Bryleigh and Ish, a young couple caught up in each other until the ugly horrific truths of the man you fell for a revealed and you see he is nothing short of a monster.  Running off into the sunset….NO….Running for your life!

When we meet Blake she is a shell of the girl she used to be.  Forced to start over in a new place with a new name constantly looking over her shoulder out of fear.  Making a new start and keeping a low profile is her only focus, something to keep her mind off of the past she is still running from.  Her position at JDT Graphic Designs will fill her days until she can retreat to the small apartment and the safety of its walls.

That is until a business meeting turns her world upside down in the form of Madden Decker.  The no nonsense business man who doesn’t do relationships since his heart was broken.  But one look at Blake and he is drawn to her.  He sees something in her more than her beauty and he is determined to win her over at any cost.

Using his business relationship on more than one occasion to turn things in his favor, Madden and Blake begin spending time together.  He notices her self-destructive behaviors and her nightmares and wants nothing more to heal her and make her his own.  Revealing very little about her past until necessary, Blake realizes that when she’s with Madden she feels safe and because of that she lets her guard down and starts to let him into her closed off heart.

But could that end up costing her…..her life?

The scenes described within the pages bring the horrific, violent and degrading nightmares of Blake to life.  I was scared for  her and felt her pain and fear that she lived with before fleeing her past.  A wolf in sheeps clothing describes Ish to a tee.  His little or no regard for life has you shuddering as you turn the pages.

I was happy for Blake when she found some level of happiness in being with Madden.   All of her attempts to dissuade him failing.  She thought all of horrible things that have happened to her and that she had lived through would send him running from her without looking back.

This story will definitely take you on an emotional roller coaster but it is definitely worth the ride.  The end will leave you with the floor falling out from under your feet.  If  you are anything like me, I was like, OH NO!!! You CANNOT do this to me Erin Noelle!!!  But she does and you can bet that I will be waiting very impatiently to get my hands on the next installment Transparent, releasing this Fall.

 ~ About the Author ~
My books all tend to be darker romance, edge of your seat, angst filled reads. My advice to my readers when starting one of my titles…prepare for the unexpected.

I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters growing up. We also used to put on performances by acting out stories. I wanted to become an actress from an early age so I could live out many roles but unfortunately I learned early on that my mind was too active…(I would end up wanting to change the script)

I would watch films or TV shows and think of ways they could have improved the story if they took another direction so I thought it best that I tell my own.

My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light; some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.

When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.

~ Review ~
120 days….that’s like 4 months give or take. Sounds like plenty of time to plan for trips, set goals, get ready for the holidays…you know..the fun stuff.  But 120 days takes on a completely different meaning when that’s the average amount of time you have left on this earth.

What an emotional read.  I was blown away by the emotional roller coaster that this story took me on.  I knew I was in trouble when just a few pages in I felt my throat clench and tears well up in my eyes.  Beautiful, the concept of allowing those with little time left to experience life to the fullest.  To allow them the opportunity to leave this earth with dignity having lived till their last moments.

I had a feeling that the book would not only be the journey of Evan’s passing and Ethan coming to terms with his loss.  There was sooo much love.  Not just between Samantha and Ethan but of the many faces we come to meet along the way at their stay at the Last Resort.  But I had a feeling while reading that M. Stratton was about to throw me for another loop and there may or may not have been hints but none the less she crushed me.

There is no way that you can possibly read this book and not be affected.  Take what it from you will, understanding, love, the ability to cope or strength to carry on.  But do yourself a favor and read this book.
