Love's Suicide
by
Jennifer Foor
Release Date: February 27, 2014
 ~ Synopsis ~
My heart belonged to Branch and Brooks Valentine since we were children, when we were all too naïve to know what that even meant. We didn’t understand that when we became adults, love would change us. I had to make a choice and when I did, it ripped our bond apart. Brooks left town, and he took half of my heart with him. It was difficult, but I coped and planned my future with Branch. I thought I’d made the right decision. I loved him and I always had.

Brooks showed up to be our best man the night before our nuptials. After drinks and too much reminiscing, I ended up in bed with the wrong brother. To avoid the humiliation and the fact that I’d ruined all of our lives, I left Branch and the only family I’d ever known.

That’s where my story should have ended.

Two years, one beautiful little girl and an abusive marriage later, I was standing there staring at the man that would always hold my heart.

The only question was…
Would I give it to him
I’m Katy Michaels and this is my story.

~Review ~
Where to start, 5 stars are not enough…..LOVED LOVED LOVED this book!  As a fan of Jenn Foor’s work I was not surprised that I would enjoy her new release but I devoured it and I think that this may now be my FAVORITE book from her.  Brooks Valentine…..YES PLEASE!

This book was AMAZING!  I knew at 3% in when the tears started to fall that this book was going to be an emotional ride.  What a ride it was!

Katy Michaels + Brooks Valentine = First Love denied!

It seemed as if the universe was determined to keep these to apart, but they say love conquers all and a love that deep would not be denied, even if it took forever to find.

Suffering from the loss of her parents, Katy moves in with her neighbors, her parent’s best friends and into the home of her best friends, Branch and Brook Valentine…twins.

"Kat, have you asked yourself how long your going to go on with my brother before you realize you picked the wrong guy?" ~ Brooks

Katy has strong feelings for Brooks, he’s always been her protector but when it appears that her feelings are not returned she finds comfort in the arms of Branch.  Severing just about all ties with Brooks when he enlists and set to marry Branch the world stands still when they see each other again for the first time.

You could feel the pull between Brooks and Katy.  He was absolutely the swoonworthy twin.  Gentle, kind, caring, protective and smoking hot!!  You could tell that Katy was settling and trying to make everyone else happy but there were little things here and there that made me dislike Branch early on and boy did he prove to have earned it all!

Unable to deny themselves, Brooks and Katy find solace in each other’s arms and just as quickly as they reunite they are torn apart.  That’s where Katy’s life starts to unravel and fast.

"What if I don't know how to stop loving you? ~ Katy
"You have to." ~ Brooks

"I can't." ~ Katy

Alone in a new town, where no one knows her, she finds that she may not be alone after all.  Her night with Brooks may stay with her forever.  Enter Bobby…..not a fan!! Did not like him from the start.  Maybe it was because I was pulling for Katy and Brooks .  He was too pushy and determined to make Katy his.  When she finally agreed to spend more time with him it was his opening to claim her and break her.  Don’t get me wrong he had few “decent” moments but none of his behavior should be condoned by anyone.

The light in the darkness for Katy was “B” a/k/a Brooklyn Valentine…..her love child. Katy lived with her decision to keep “B” a secret until she couldn’t anymore.   How much loss can one girl take, losing Brooks twice in one lifetime just seemed absolutely cruel but when the truth is revealed there is no stopping Katy from getting to him……or is there.

Grrrr……Bobby….ugh…..where’s your pride?  He was yet another person determined to keep Brooks and Katy apart but when push comes to shove…..Katy has finally decided that she will not allow anyone or anything keep her from Brooks and their daughter.  When the story comes full circle we are brought right back to where it all began.

"I don't want to be your friend, because I need more than that.  Open your eyes woman.  I want to be your everything.  I always have.
  ~ Brooks

This story covers such a range of emotions. Love, deceit (many layers of deciet), longing, heartbreak, abuse, guilt, anger and forgiveness and did I mention love.  This story has soooo many twists and turns and it kept me glued to my kindle as I didn’t want to miss a minute of Katy and Brook”s story.    Go…..1 ~click this book and take the ride with Katy and Brooks and experience the awesomeness of Jennifer Foor’s writing!

Love, Lies & the D.A.
by
Rebecca Rohman
 ~ Synopsis ~
Jada McLean is about to get married in nine days, when she walks in on her fiancé in a little more than a compromising position. Days later, she’s on a trip that she intends to be relaxing
and a prelude to her fresh start, when she runs into the rude, obnoxious, but gorgeous Jonathan Kole.
Jonathan Kole is San Francisco’s newest District Attorney. When he finds himself deeply attracted to a stunning beauty, he has no idea that she’s about to get into BIG trouble with the law—and he’ll be the one presiding over her trial. To make matters worse, his father is the lawyer representing her in the high-profile case.
When a series of events force them together over New Year’s weekend, Jonathan’s feelings and ethics will come into question, while Jada comes to terms with the fact that she is falling
for the man that will be responsible for attempting to put her behind bars… Little do they know, they're both about to fall into a whirlwind so deep, it will send both their lives spiraling
out of control.

~ Excerpt ~
We finish lunch and watch a movie and some football, complete with popcorn and soda. When the sun starts its descent, we head to the hot tub. I am a little nervous. I hope I don’t gawk at him again. I slip into a little white bikini, wrap myself in a robe, and head out.
When I get onto the terrace, I try to ignore the fact that ass-hugging Ralph Lauren trunks cling to every inch of his well-endowed front… and back. He steps into the tub, and after I tear my robe away, he stretches out his hand and helps me in. I have no idea what I was thinking when I agreed to this. I can’t get hot and sexy images of us having passionate sex in the tub out of my head.
Since Richard and I broke up, my body has craved sexual pleasure in a way it hasn’t before, but this is flipping torture. Sure, I’ve pleasured myself a few times, but there is no substitute for a man who you’re physically attracted to who you know knows all the right things to do to you in bed. Sitting opposite to
him, I close my eyes, sit back, and relax. I hope that I don’t give him a clue that while I lie here, I am practically salivating at the mouth and lusting for his sexual pleasure.
I am just starting to calm down and relax when he raises one of my feet and massages, working his thumbs from around my ankle to the arch of my foot and then my toes. My God, I swear this could be considered foreplay, because what he is doing to me right now causes all sorts of tension to develop between my thighs, along with the tingling sensation that runs down my lower back.
My goodness. Is he purposely trying to seduce me, or is he completely unaware of what his actions are doing to my body?
Oh, don’t be naïve, Jada. Of course he knows what he’s doing. He’s made his feelings for you abundantly clear.
He moves to my other foot, and as he works, a soft moan spurts out of my lips. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been this sexually aroused. I try to remember the last time I was with Richard, and nothing comes to mind. Jonathan snaps me back to the present when his hands move from my feet and he works his way up my calf.
Oh God, that feels good.
I feel like I’m losing control. I want him to make love to me. I open my eyes, and I’m startled when I find him staring straight at me. He hooks his arms under my thighs and pulls me towards him. The look in his eyes are filled with pure desire. I’m straddling him, and I can feel his erection in the center of my
crevasse; just a few thin strips of fabric are between us. He folds me in his arms and draws me close to him. My heart explodes between our bodies, and my hardened nipples are against his chest. I lean my forehead against his, and finally our lips touch. He gently braces my head with his palm, and I wrap my arms around his neck. He kisses me again, but this time I part my lips, allowing his tongue to slip into my mouth. I open my mouth wider, letting him deepen our kiss, allowing our tongues to tease and explore each other. My hands roam over his neck, shoulders, and chest.
His hands glide over my shoulders and down to my back. He draws me closer towards him. Kissing my neck, his hands caress my back, and his fingers inch closer to the ties of my swimsuit.
Suddenly, I remember that he may very well be the man to ensure that I am sent off to prison. I pull away. My breathing is heavy—so is his. My forehead is still against his. He kisses me on my cheek then my neck.
“Why’d you have to be the bloody District Attorney?” I whisper.
“And why’d you have to be a suspect?” he responds.

~ Review ~
This is my second read from Rebecca and although Romantic Suspense is not my usual genre I was happy to take this journey.

The story opens with Jada just a little over a week away from getting  married when she finds her finance in a compromising position.  In need of some space, Jada takes off and meets Mr. Personality himself, Jonathan Kole.

This book was full so many twists and turns that keeps the reader engaged right from the start. I will admit that it took me a while to warm up to Jada but once I did I was truly pulling for her and Jonathan.  Their journey may not have been smooth but some of the best things in life are fought for.

One look at the page count on this book and I was a little worried….but the story is so engaging that the pages fly by.  There were several times throughout the story where I found myself caught up in the emotions.  There were tears, there was yelling and there was laughter.  This story is told in first person with alternative point of views which I tend to favor.

There is so much action packed into this story that it is hard to review without giving anything away.  So I will say this….go grab Love Lies and the D.A. and find out for yourself.  I have a feeling that if you are a fan of romantic suspense Rebecca Rohman will become a favorite of yours.

~ Guest Post from the Author ~
Love, Lies & The D.A.
I worked on this book for the last year and the whole time, I could hear my mentor’s voice in my head.
“Telling not showing,” she’d say, or “I’m not convinced… not feeling it here.”
With this book I pushed myself, and tried to blow everything I knew I was guilty of with my first book (at least during the writing phase), out the park. My aim was to make the reader and my mentor, laugh and cry. I want readers to feel happy and sad, and at times I want them to feel angry—I want them to experience what the characters feel.
I’ve always had the most difficult time being funny in my writing and it was something I really strived to do in certain parts of this book. I think I’ve succeeded—it’s up to bookworms out there to decide. I’m silly, I laugh at my own jokes and depending on my husband to tell me if something was funny or not in a romance novel, was a complete waste of time.
He always gave the same blah response, “It’s cute.”
Not necessarily what you want to hear when attempting to write a funny scene. The scenes where I wanted to evoke tears were the most difficult however. I had to get myself in “the zone”. That meant privacy, quiet, soft or no music, then I’d put myself in my characters shoes and I’d imagine how they’d feel.
In some instances, it was as simple as going back to a sad time in my life, but in others, I used my own fears— how I thought I would react in a given situation to write those scenes. I thought if I felt what the characters did; it would translate to the readers too. When I found myself bawling while my fingertips
scrambled across the keyboard, I truly believed I would succeed in roping the reader in.
My aim was to keep readers engaged from page one all the way to the very end. Love, Lies & The D.A. will take people through a myriad of emotions—from lighthearted moments, to intense situations, from close encounters to steamy love scenes. Readers will laugh, and they will cry. I hope they thoroughly enjoy the heartwarming and sometimes heart-wrenching journey that Jada and Jonathan go through as they turn through the pages of my book.

Release Day Blitz & Giveaway
Can't Go Without
 (Oasis Waterfall, #2)
by
 Angelisa Stone
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 1, 2014

~ Synopsis ~
“What’s the one thing you can’t go without?”

Tristan O'Donnell has money, women, and all the luxuries that cold hard cash can buy. Tristan's been sucking sunshine right from the monogrammed silver spoon his life was served up on since the day he was born. And quite frankly, he wouldn't want it any other way. He's his mother's pride and joy, his father's right-hand-man, and the envy of every guy around. All Tristan has to do is flash his million dollar smile, give his trademark wink, and he gets what he wants, when he wants, anytime he wants.

Leah Franchetti grinds her fingers to the bone; sculpting, painting, recreating treasures from trash—the very sentiment that defines her life. Her inventive, vindictive, lucrative, and seemingly unforgivable plan allowed her to shortcut her way into the life she always imagined, owning an art gallery, surrounding herself in the comfort of her passion and dreams.

When circumstances force Leah and Tristan to come face-to-face with the past and with Leah’s devious manipulation, truths come flooding forth, destroying those in the present and possibly jeopardizing both of their highly anticipated futures.

Can Tristan overcome Leah’s slander and deception—despite how dangerously close he comes to losing the one thing he can’t go without—money? Will Leah be forced to come clean, knowing she’ll have to live her life with the one thing she can’t go without—her dignity?

~ Excerpt ~
Rushing out of Chet O’Donnell’s office, angrily and haughtily, I face-plant straight into a strong, hard chest, covered in a wool, cable-knit sweater, smelling of expensive cologne.  People always say that the sense of smell is the most powerful sense, triggering memories and feelings clearer than any of the other four senses combined.  Just one smell, one inhalation of that warm, sexy designer cologne and my insides burn, ignite with intense desire and longing.  Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.  No. No. No.

“I’m…I’m…I’m…” I stammer, backing up, dropping my head, and looking straight at the ground in humiliation.

“I’m…I gotta go,” I mumble, sidestepping out of his way, and heading straight for the elevator.  I push the button repeatedly, knowing damn well my actions won’t speed up the elevator’s arrival.

Tristan runs to catch me, just as I eye the stairwell and bolt for the door.  “Leah! Wait!” he yells; the “wait” is muffled by the sound of the door slamming behind me.  I run down only one flight of steps and escape onto the twentieth floor, knowing that Tristan O’Donnell would chase me the entire way down the stairs—if seeing and talking to me were his goals.  Tristan O’Donnell always gets what he wants.  Always.

Hoping that Tristan doesn’t check the video monitors, I walk down the hallway to the other set of stairs and down to the first floor, exiting O’Donnell Industries.  Once I hit the street, the winter sun reflecting off the snow burns my eyes.  I squint at the pain of the brightness, knowing the sting of my tears has nothing to do with the shining, searing light.

~ Synopsis ~
Everyone has secrets; secrets meant to be kept—hidden away where nobody can discover the truth. Adrian O’Donnell (aka: Dre Donley) is no exception. Kathryn’s honesty and straightforwardness is the ultimate turn on for a guy like Dre. He’s never met someone so sincere, so full of truth and innocence. Their chemistry is unavoidable, their connection, magnetic. When Dre sets out to make Kathryn fall for him, he doesn’t realize the grave mistake he’s making. Kathryn’s strength and convictions do not falter, even for an irresistible man like Dre. When his past resurfaces, and the lies come tumbling forth, Kathryn must decide if his deceit and betrayal can be forgiven or if the damage is irreparable. Will the truth ultimately destroy the relationship that neither one of them could deny or even attempt to resist?
