Review of Beautiful Downfall by Scarlett Jade

SYNOPSIS

Camille Taylor's life fell apart after the tragic accident that haunts her every waking moment. She became a recluse, only looking forward to each day with the hope of having those dreams... A handsome man with dark hair and wicked eyes visits her at night, keeping her company as she struggles to get past the sudden death of her beloved parents. There is something undeniable about him. She is drawn to the mysterious man like a moth to a flame. This couldn't be insanity, but it can't be real, either...

Casey Philips has his own damaged past that put him in a delicate situation. He is an angel working for redemption, and has been watching over Camille since that horrible day where her mother and father were stolen away. It's all God's plan, they are fine and well now, but the task of helping this lovely human get past her grief to move on in her life is quickly taking a wrong turn. She's stunning and plays the key role in his every thought. Angels aren't suppose to fall in love with their clients. If he continues he could lose everything and fall from God's good graces. But if he stops he will lose the most important person in his life.

With every thing on the line, Casey and Camille set out on a life-altering adventure to discover if love really can overcome anything.

REVIEW

I can honestly tell you that I chose to read this book for the cover.   Well wasn't I surprised to find that this book was a story about an Angel...see I don't usually read books with Angels so I wasn't sure how this was going to turn out for me.  I must tell you I was pleasantly surprised.

Camille has not dealt with the grief of losing her parents very well and unbenounced to
her she has been having sexual fantasies involving her grief angel Casey Philipps.   Casey's mission is to help Camille heal so that she can move on with her life but he is torn between his feelings for her and healing her.  He knows that he is overstepping all boundaries when it comes to Cami but he cannot help himself.  The pull between the characters was compelling.  The depth of their love for one another and their sacrifices they made for one another were selfless.  I truly felt for the characters as they chose to make decisions that hurt themselves but set the other free.

Casey while being an angel must right some wrongs in his own past before being able move on to the next phase of his being.  Forgiveness.....Having experienced abuse, drugs
and violence while living Casey is unsure if he can  grant the one thing he must.  I liked
the authors ability to blend the characters between their mortal and spiritual beings. I
mean who knows there may just be some angels roaming among us.

As I stated earlier this in not my usual genre of book but I did not find the story to be too religious, which was a plus for me as many people have their own beliefs.  The story for me was all about second chances.

"Even if it hurts a little, isn’t that what love is? Hurting someone but apologizing
profusely in the most beautiful of ways?”  ~
