A small
gasp fell from my lips as his fingers kissed the paper-thin skin. His eyes held
me hostage. The golden brown was now a swirling bronze, raging with the same
demanding hunger I knew reflected in mine.
“This
sort of reminds me of the forest,” I whispered. “The trees around us—no one
else.” My words fell like petals, waiting for Jethro to crush them beneath his
glossy shoe.
But…he
didn’t.
Tracing
one hand from my wrist, along the inside of my arm, and right to my throat, he
fisted my ponytail. With intensity that stripped my soul to the very essence of
who I was, he pulled my head back slowly, sensually, full of sexual power.
His eyes
dropped to my mouth. “I’ll let you in on a little secret, Ms. Weaver.”
I panted,
my neck straining against his hold, but I made no move to break the poignant
awareness.
“You won that night, but I
lied when I said it pissed me off.” His mouth dropped, his tongue licked my
bottom lip with the barest of grazes.

~ Review ~
Everything I was hoping for
and more! Pepper Winters blew me away
with Debt Inheritance so I couldn’t wait to see how First Debt would play
out! Brilliant!!
The story picks up where
Jethro and Nila leave us in Debt Inheritance…..Nila trying to find her way to the
boundary to win her freedom. I was
hoping that she would give it her all but honestly I knew Jethro had more
resources as his disposal and would never allow that to happen.
The
dark appeal of Jethro captivated me in Book 1 but he totally pulled me under in
First Debt. I loved the verbal sparring
between him and Nila and his inner dialogue that counteracted most, if not all
of his actions. The sexual tension between the two was
radiating off my kindle in waves. Their
desire for one another no matter how “wrong” did not appear to deter either one
of them from wanting it, wanting more!

“You’re
ruining my life.”
“Kiss
Me.”

“Kiss
Me, Jethro, Kiss Me. Just fucking kiss
me and give me-"
As Nila is “settling in” to
her new surroundings she has more interactions with members of the Brotherhood
and Kestrel. They seem to find a
connection but Nila isn’t foolish enough to trust it wholeheartedly. As the
story plays out, I was debating if Kestrel was a master manipulator or if he
was indeed trying to give Nila a bit of insight into the goings on.
Regardless the “relationship”
between Kestrel and Nila seems to bother Jethro and he decides to make it clear
that Nila is his. But in staking his
claim is he exposing more than he should?
Can he protect her from her fate if she finds a way to shatter the ice
around his heart and send him spiraling out of control?

destroyed me, Nila. And now it’s my job to make sure they don’t destroy you,
too.” ~ Jethro
So First Debt will leave you
with some more insight into the Weaver –Hawk rivalry, a taste of the Weaver
woman that have come before, some answers or more questions about Kite007 and
the desire to know more!
As with any of Pepper’s book
it will consume you. You will not want
to nor be able to put it down. The
problem with that…..it’s over way too soon.
I will now need to bide my time until Second Debt releases in 2015 to
see what becomes of Nila and Jethro. A
story so worth waiting for!
