She had me at the cover.....I swear every time I looked at it I saw Gentleman Mine...wishful thinking I am sure after devouring this latest novel from Penelope Ward. It takes a lot to get me to gasp out loud while reading and to shed a tear but she did both while losing me in Channing and Amber's world for a few hours.
Amber and Channing were childhood friends whose bond deepened with a loss and then gradually grew apart over the years. You know that crush on your friends brother that you just never forget. When circumstance gives them a chance to reconnect, secrets and feelings come to light that will rock them to the core.
Not going to lie, Channing was super sexy and totally loveable and he cooked ! I mean even Kitty was all wrapped up in him. Channing seems to appear just when Amber could use her old friend again but being in such close quarters starts to stir things up outside the kitchen.
Being with Channing gave Amber the ability to heal and be a bit more carefree. Although they both pretended that what they had was nothing more than their agreement you could totally feel the emotions radiating from the pages. They had chemistry in spades.
But as we know all good things must come to an end......but do they? Ah the infamous plot twist that may leave you a bit angry with your kindle. But have no fear a little angst, jealousy and distance may be the perfect remedy for love.
Yes you read that rating correct....6 stars....5 stars was just truly not enough. Go grab your copy of Gentleman Nine and introduce yourself to Channing and Amber. You most definitely won't be sorry. #G9
