Release Day Blitz & Review
Lux
(Nocte #3)

by
Courtney Cole
 ~ Synopsis ~
My name is Calla Price and I’m broken.

My pieces are all around me, floating on the wind, even as I desperately try to grasp them.

Who is dead? Alive? Insane?

What is the truth?

I don’t know.

I do know this: The darkness is strangling me. With every breath, I choke on another lie.

My mind has protected me, but that shield will soon be lowered.

All will be revealed.
Every answer to every question.

It’s all been leading to this.

Don’t be afraid.
Be terrified.

~ Excerpt ~
I’m in a darker place, and my brother is there. His eyes are dark and murky, without whites, and I realize that he’s an embryo, and I’m an embryo and we haven’t been born yet. I reach out my webbed fingers and touch his face through the liquid, through the fluid, and he’s my brother. Although he doesn’t have hair yet, I know it. I feel him, I feel his heart.

He looks at me through the dark, and just as if he were speaking, I hear a voice. It’s him, it’s my brother, it’s Finn.

Save me and I’ll save you.

He is loud, and quiet, and everywhere, and nowhere.

Something is troubling him, and I feel it in my bones, so I nestle closer to take it, to absorb it, because I can’t let anything happen to him, not ever. I failed him once, and I’ll never fail him again.

He brings me comfort and I bring him comfort and that’s the way we’ll always be.

I feel his skin. I feel his heart beating against me.
I feel our cells splitting as we grow, as we develop, as we become beings.
Save me, and I’ll save you.
Yes, I will.
I will.

I awaken with a start, and the light is pouring into my bedroom window.

The bedding is pulled up to my chin and I untangle one hand, staring at it. My fingers are no longer webbed. My fingers are separate and long. I wiggle them in the light.

It was a dream.

It was a dream.

My thoughts are muddled though. It’s hard to focus and something moves in the corner. Something with dark eyes. It stares at me for a moment, then it’s gone, and I remember Finn’s scream.

“The demon is here, Calla!”

~ Review ~
I truly loved this series. The fact that Courtney Cole made me question my sanity made this book so enjoyable. Just when you thought you knew what was going on there would be another plot twist. I fell in love with Finn, Calla and Dare so I was completely vested in how things would turn out for these characters.

How does one review a book that twisted everything you thought you knew and made you question it? One that took to the edge time and time again only to pull you back at the last minute?  Carefully, so as not to give away any of the secrets you will uncover when you read LUX and get the answers that you have been searching for since you took that first step and jumped down the rabbit hole.  Don’t try to rush it….read it, enjoy it, feel it!  The story is like a perfectly laid out jig saw puzzle.  Each piece will eventually find its place and the journey will be worth the end result.

This is not the type of series I usually read, but Courtney captured my eye with the covers to the books in this series and she had me intrigued with the first synopsis.  There was no way that I couldn’t finish this series.  I needed to know who was insane? At times I thought Courtney might be or even myself.  What was real and what was imagined? What really happened the night that Calla & Finn’s mom died? Would Calla and Dare end up together?

Don’t look for answers here….they are found in LUX which you most definitely should purchase and climb your way back out of the rabbit hole….if you dare!

(Nocte #2.5)
by

Courtney Cole
~ Synopsis ~
I never knew what the consequences would be.
I say that like it’s a defense, an excuse.
It’s not.  It’s simply the truth.
I never knew what he would become to me.
Through everything, he’s become everything.
My rock, my air, my love.
My everything.
And then….
Things changed.
Because it was wrong.
Because sometimes, our sons must pay for the sins of their fathers.
Or their mothers.
I’m afraid that I’m lost,
that I’m damned.
After you read this, you’ll probably agree.
Really, it doesn’t matter.
All that matters is that I save him.
Because he shouldn’t pay for my sin.
Judge me if you like.
But keep reading.
This is our beginning.
This is where the darkness truly starts.

Release Blitz & Giveaway
Pocketful of Sand
by

M. Leighton
~ Synopsis ~

“She’s beauty for my ashes. And I’m hope for her heartache.”—Cole Danzer

I don’t know what makes a great love story. Is it that instant attraction when boy meets girl? The passionate kisses and the fairy-tale ending? Or is it a lifetime of tragedy, paid in advance, for a few stolen moments of pure bliss? The pain and the suffering that, in the end, you can say are worth it for having found the missing piece of your soul?

The answer is: I don’t know. I don’t know what makes a great love story. I only know what makes my love story. I only know that finding Cole when I did, when Emmy and I were running from a nightmare, was the only thing that saved me. That saved us. He was more broken than I was, but somehow we took each other’s shattered pieces and made a whole. If that is what makes a great love story, if that is what makes an epic romance, then mine…ours is the greatest of them all.

Contains material that some may find disturbing. Not intended for readers under the age of 18.

~ Review ~
I finished Pocketful of Sand and I felt my heart splinter and get put back together!!   It was beautiful, the story kept me guessing as to what happened to make them that broken. Revealed in such a way that made my heart break for them. Another brilliant, heart-felt read from Michelle Leighton!!

Pocketful of Sand is a must read!  You must meet Cole and Eden and let's not forget Emmy....scene stealer on more than one occasion.  I knew that this book was going to captivate me when I saw the cover.  I know...you shouldn't judge a book by a cover but this one is just breathtaking and I had to know the meaning behind "Pocketful of Sand".  Michelle took this story beyond my expectations, wrapping me up between the pages with angst, tension, chemistry, mystery and the need to know.....why?

I wondered from the beginning what had happened to both Emmy and Eden as well as Cole.  Why are these truly beautiful people so haunted and damaged?  Why are they in self imposed isolation?  Will they ever find happiness?  I had my theories but was flooded with emotions when their plights were revealed.   Tissues required.

Cole and Eden's connection was almost like a quiet current running through them.  Neither knew why but they felt so connected to one another.  Emmy....the catalyst that sparks a fire of emotions that neither of them can deny.  Cole finds that he is possessive of both Eden and Emmy but cannot verbalize why.  With the heavy weights of their pasts bearing down on them will Cole and Eden find a way to push the past down and allow their feelings to rise to the surface?

I don't want to give away the story or the premise behind it.  GO grab your copy and experience their journey for yourself.  It is one most definitely worth taking.  Which path will you choose?  #1click and find out!

~ Excerpt ~
Together, we float to the surface, still intertwined.  We break through the top and I suck in a breath and Dare is staring into my eyes.
There’s tension here, but not the bad kind.  It’s the kind that ignites you, the kind that intoxicates you, the kind that once you taste it, you’ll crave for the rest of your life.
I’ve forgotten that I was going to be careful, that I was going to reject him on every level.
All I can remember, all I can focus on, is how veryalive Dare DuBray is making me feel in this moment, how alive he always makes me feel.
For a girl who has been surrounded by death her entire life, this is a very big deal.
“I’m a little afraid of you,” I blurt honestly, and Dare still has his arms around me.  Our treading water motions keep our legs rubbing together, the friction still there.
Hot,
Hot,
Hotter.
Dare smiles, but there is no humor in it.
“Good.”
“Why?”
My honesty makes me seem innocent, but I don’t know how to play games.  I have no experience with the opposite sex at all.
“Because that makes you feel something.”
But he’s hesitant now and he looks away. There’s something he wants to say, it’s balanced on the tip of his tongue, but he swallows it.
“What is it?” I ask softly.  “Just tell me.”
He wants to, I can tell. His secrets are killing him. He just wants to be normal, he’s just acting out a role.
I don’t know why I feel like I know this.  It’s just there, suddenly resting on my heart.
“You don’t have to be someone you’re not,” I murmur quietly.  His dark eyes snap up to mine and he pulls his hands away. There’s something in his eyes now, something guarded, and our easy afternoon has come to an end.
“What makes you think I am?” he snaps. “Pretending to be something I’m not, I mean.”
I’ve somehow annoyed him, and I don’t answer because I don’t know what to say.
“I’m not being someone I’m not, Calla,” he says coolly as he strides from the water.  “I’m being who you need me to be.”
I’m utterly confused, and I’m dripping wet.
“We don’t have towels,” is all he says when I follow him. My clothing soaks up the water and it is a very cold ride back home.
Dare doesn’t say another word and I leave him in the garage.
I don’t see him at dinner, and I don’t see him the rest of the night.
But as I lay in bed around midnight, I see his car leave the garage.
I don’t see him come home, and I’m awake for half the night waiting.
I have no idea where he goes when he slips away.
Somehow, I think he wants it that way.
There’s a fork in the road and even though I see it, I can’t avoid it.
One road goes left, one goes right, and neither of them end well.
I feel it in my bones,
In my bones,
In my bones.
I sing a song of nonsense, and it sings back.  The notes echo and twist in the air, and I swallow them whole.
“Come out,” I call behind me, because I know they’re there.
I can’t see them, but they’re always watching.
Eyes appear, blood red, and they blink once, twice, three times.
“I can see you,” I announce and there’s a growl and then I’m crushed beneath the dark, beneath the weight, beneath the oppression.
“You don’t scare me,” I lie.
There’s savagery here, there’s grace.
But above all, there’s oblivion and no matter what I do, I will be sucked into it.
I know it.
I feel it.
I’m crazy.
And it doesn’t matter.
I’m the rabbitrabbitrabbit and I’ll never be free.

~ Synopsis ~
SAVE ME AND I'LL SAVE YOU....

My name is Calla Price. I’m eighteen years old, and I’m one half of a whole. My other half-- my twin brother, my Finn--is crazy.

I love him. More than life, more than anything. And even though I’m terrified he’ll suck me down with him, no one can save him but me.

I’m doing all I can to stay afloat in a sea of insanity, but I’m drowning more and more each day. So I reach out for a lifeline.

Dare DuBray.

He’s my savior and my anti-Christ. His arms are where I feel safe, where I’m afraid, where I belong, where I’m lost. He will heal me, break me, love me and hate me. He has the power to destroy me.

Maybe that’s ok. Because I can’t seem to save Finn and love Dare without everyone getting hurt.

Why? Because of a secret.

A secret I’m so busy trying to figure out, that I never see it coming.

You won’t either.
