“Hey, Bella, right?” My pencil dropped out of my hand as I jumped at the voice next to our table. That was the second time today I caught myself gawking at Owen as he walked away. I studied his ass so much, I’d memorized the fraying denim on his back pockets. Blinking my leering eyes, I turned to a sort of familiar face. “Yeah. I’m sorry but I don’t know your name.” “Paul. I’m in Intro to Psychology with you.” Paul was cute in a non-mentionable type of way. With his dark features and average build and height, he easily blended into a crowd—and my psych class was over three hundred people. I spent most of that class feeling like an ant. “Oh, right.” I smacked my forehead in faked recognition. “I’m sorry. That class is huge.” Paul chuckled as he nodded. “It’s a good thing Professor Brightman is interesting. It would suck for him to look out and see three hundred people sleeping.” He let out a nervous laugh as he gazed at me. I smiled back. “I guess you’re right. It’s hard to notice anything or anyone in those seats, though. I’m sure people take naps in that class anyway.” “Well,” Paul sighed as his eyes dropped to the ground. “I noticed you. From pretty much the first day.” “Oh,” I replied in a whisper. I was only here on a study date, even though I almost let myself pretend it was more. Paul seemed nice but, whether it was misplaced or not, my interest was in the hockey player waiting by the barista. Should I force myself to flirt with Paul? That wouldn’t be fair to either of us, but putting all my eggs in one unattainable basket wasn’t exactly healthy either. Paul grabbed the back of the chair next to me and raised his eyebrows in question. “Can I sit? I’d love to get to know the girl behind the pretty face.” “Seat’s taken.” A southern growl behind me made Paul’s face fall. Owen placed my iced coffee and straw in front of me as he glared at Paul. Paul let out a long sigh and nodded. “Sorry, Owen. I didn’t realize you were with Bella.” “We’re on a study—” “It’s cool, Paul. See you at practice later.” Owen sat in his chair and scooted it closer to me. Paul nodded and gave me a sheepish smile before traipsing away. Okay, what was that? “You know Paul?” He nodded without looking up. “He’s one of the third line freshmen on the team. Doesn’t seem like a bad guy, I guess.” With a sour face I wasn’t used to seeing, he dug into his bag and pulled out a notebook. If I didn’t know better, I’d have said he was jealous. I sucked in my bottom lip to fight the twitch of a satisfied smile. “I don’t really know him. He’s in my Intro to Psych class. Too many people in there to really know who anyone is.” “You know what we should do?” Owen met my gaze as he leaned back in his chair. I took a slurp of my coffee and squinted at Owen. “Enlighten me.” Owen laughed as the front legs of his chair dropped to the floor and he leaned forward. “We should go out.” With the straw still in my mouth, I froze. “Out?” Owen nodded and gave me a sideways glance. “Yeah, out. You. Me. Without books or ledgers. We can celebrate how well we both did on the midterm—or how well you did and how I got by thanks to you.” Owen’s brow raised as he awaited my answer, but I didn’t know how to reply. “I really don’t mind helping you. I get to study a little extra too, so it helps both of us.” Still ignoring his question, I opened my notes and skimmed to the midterm review questions. Owen inched closer to peer at my book, and I resented the jump in my pulse whenever he came near me. We’d been meeting twice a week for one hour at a time since the beginning of the semester, and each day I was more drawn to him than the one before. Last Thursday, Owen met me at the library straight after hockey practice when his hair was still damp from the shower. All I could think of for the first fifteen minutes was how the rest of his body looked wet, drops of water dripping across every muscle and hard ridge. Owen was the first man I had dreams of licking while I was still awake.

Anticipated Release Date: Early 2016
Cover Design: by Kellie Dennis at Book Cover By Design

~ Synopsis ~
There is a message for everything. From handwritten to verbal, seen and unseen. Messages exist all around us. But what if you don't see? What if you don't understand? What if by ignoring the message, your life is never the same again?

LIFE OFFERS EVERYONE messages. Either unnoticeable or obvious, it’s up to us to pay attention. I didn’t pay attention. Instinct tried to take notice; the world tried to prevent my downfall. I didn’t listen. I’ll forever wonder what would’ve happened if I did pay attention to those messages. Would I have survived? Would I have fallen in love? Would I have been happy? Then again, perhaps just like messages existed, fate existed, too. And no matter what life path we choose, fate always has the final say. I didn’t listen but it doesn’t mean I didn’t live. I just lived a different tale than the one I’d envisioned. Away from my home. Away from my family. Away from everything comfortable and familiar. But I wasn’t alone… I was with him. And he became my entire universe.

 ~ Excerpt ~
Tears glistened as she let out a disbelieving laugh. “And that’s the problem. You still see me as dirty eight-year-old playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The girl who played kickball, skinning her knees, and spitting into your hand. Which is okay. I’m not the girly-girl wearing skirts and worrying about having perfect makeup. I don’t flirt or act ladylike. At least, not to you. That’s not how we are. That’s not how we’ll ever be. I’m finally realizing that.”
I wanted to tell her that she was wrong. That I didn’t see her as an eight-year-old girl. That, even though I’d been a blind fool, my eyes had finally opened. I wanted to wax poetic about her long, beautiful hair and how much I loved running my fingers through it while watching our favorite shows. How the beautiful blue of her eyes was my favorite color and, if Crayola could capture it in a crayon, I’d buy every single box until I had a lifetime supply. And her lips. God, I wanted to profess how, ever since that day in biology, her lips had had me transfixed and I wanted nothing more than a taste. I hadn’t cared that there was dead frog cut open and splayed out on the table. The way she’d sucked her bottom lip between her teeth, gasping and cursing as she’d drawn blood, had thrown all my disgust over the frog out the window. All I could see was her. All I wanted was her.
I wanted to tell her all of that.
But I didn’t, and I would regret it for the rest of the summer.
“Sierra—” I began to protest, but she cut me off, giving me a warm, watery smile.
“It’s fine, Jeremy. I promise. I have no problem being the Tod to your Copper. Or the Joey to your Dawson. That’s who I am.” She hesitated for a moment. “That’s who I’ll always be. You’re my best friend, Jeremy. It’s okay that you don’t see my boobs. Hell, it’s probably better that way.”
My stomach plummeted, and if I was man enough to admit it, my eyes burned with an unexpected rush of tears. I stepped out of the sight so she couldn’t see me. She misinterpreted the move, but before I could find a single ounce of courage, she was waving goodbye and running into her house, leaving me there to watch her go.
Something I never wanted to do again.
It wasn’t until after Sierra had left for Ohio and I’d had a chance to reflect on her words that I realized what she’d said. Dawson and Joey, as of right then, weren’t even speaking. Copper and Tod had gone their separate ways, and even though their friendship remained, they were still apart for the rest of their lives.
I didn’t want to be Copper anymore. I sure as hell didn’t want to be Dawson.
But it was too late. I’d lost my chance. I’d missed my window. Sierra was gone, and there was nothing I could do about it.
         Jenna was right.
         I was an idiot.
         I was unbelievable.
         I was blind.
And, worst of all, I was alone.

Release Day Blitz
The Weight of Rain
by
Mariah Dietz
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 27, 2015
~ Synopsis ~
I've dreamed of him since before I was old enough to form memories. I'm as sure of this as I am of breathing.

When I close my eyes, my mind paints a picture of his smile and shades the contours of his hands, the deep scar around his bicep.

People say that I'm an artist, yet my mind is vacant, my hands unsteady. With his presence, he has unknowingly broken that something inside of me that makes me who I am, because being around him is like standing in a rainstorm.

First the drops tickle my skin, and then they coat me, refusing to be ignored. Finally, it seems they soak into me, reaching parts of me I don’t think anyone has ever touched. I’m not certain how he’s capable of doing so—I’m not sure that he even realizes it. Sometimes I'm terrified that it’s apparent in my reactions: other times—I really hope that it is.

I've been waiting for this. For him.

But I never knew it would come with such a price.
 ~ Excerpt ~
“Why do you pretend that I don’t mean anything to you when clearly I do?”

My charcoal presses hard against the paper as my neck snaps up. He’s fully dressed, his usual baseball hat still on, flipped backward, and wearing a flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows. Flannel is growing on me, but I won’t tell him that. His face shows no signs of humor or teasing. If anything, he looks almost pained.

“Did you just get home?”

“Why did you pretend you wanted to know me? Why not just call it what it was?” His eyes narrow as his chin drops.

“Have you been drinking?” I know the answer before I ask the question. I can smell it.

“I liked you, Lo.”

My heart races with too many possibilities and hopes, and not enough validation.

“You spend so much time trying to convince yourself that what happened that night wasn’t real.”

“I was drunk.”
“You weren’t drunk. I wouldn’t have slept with you if you were drunk! I don’t do shit like that. It’s disgusting!”

“I don’t remember large parts of that night.”

“You remember more of that night than you’re willing to admit.” His eyes land on my drawing where he studies the image for several long seconds. I should have covered it as soon as I realized he was here, but it was too late from the beginning. It’s of him—of course it’s of him. And to make matters worse, he’s shirtless. The scars he mentioned me knowing about are there, as well as the few tattoos most of the world is deprived of seeing. “Obviously you remember.”

His words make my cheeks burn with embarrassment. He’s right, but hearing that he’s aware of this fact is both strangely relieving and move-to-Australia-tomorrow worthy.

“You left an impression,” I admit before moving my attention so I don’t have to see his reaction.

“Lo, I haven’t been able to forget that night either. I think about it all. The. Damn. Time.” His words are punctuated, driving his message much further than just my thoughts. “I spent weeks trying to figure out who you were.” I feel slightly guilty that his admission makes me so happy. For so long I have thought he avoided me, lied about his name and identity so that I wouldn’t find out who he truly was.

“Why did we wait so long to be honest with each other?”
His breath is a snicker. “We’re only admitting a fraction of anything.”

His words run through my head, lacing into several variations of what he actually means, still, I nod. “This conversation needs to happen. We need to figure shit out because I’m tired of trying to avoid you, and I’m really tired of you ignoring me.”

“Aren’t we kind of doing that now?”

He shakes his head as he closes the distance between us, then grips the table with his left hand and bends so his face is level with mine. “If I stay in here any longer I’m going to do something that would probably make me deserve getting slapped, so I am going to say this and then leave.” He pauses. I can smell the scent of beer and peppermint on his breath, along with the warmth of his skin as his shoulders roll forward. His eyes are wide and bright, demanding me to pay close attention to his words. “I know you’re tough. I know you can draw better than any damn person I’ve ever met in my life and most likely ever will. I know you love Mercedes and would never risk changing that relationship. But we like each other, and I don’t know what in the hell that means exactly, but I know I want to find out. The question you need to ask yourself is, do you?”

His throat moves, swallowing words we both know he’s fighting with. Ones that would make things both better and worse. He reaches forward, his chest grazing my shoulder. I hate that I don’t want to move. That I want to absorb the feel of his warmth and convince him to admit truths we both know and bury on a daily basis in a sea of general politeness and attempts to avoid one another. But the truths are laid open with the innuendos, silent stares, and capitalized when we go out of the way to cross the other’s path. He has become an exhausting and thrilling addiction that I don’t know how to consider stopping or even changing at this point.

A long breath runs through my nose as his dark eyes meet mine, exposing he’s fighting his own battle: silently pleading with me to bring things up by making a cutting remark or joke about our night. I know he wants it because it’s the only way we can both talk about it and relive it. It’s apparent by the way his jaw locks and his eyes waver from mine that he also doesn’t want me to respond. He’s waiting for me to consider his words and come back. His arm flexes as he holds the table even tighter. Then he stands and stalks out of the room, leaving my heart racing.

Holy shit.

Blossoming Flower

{Wildflowers #1}
by
Vivian Winslow

Release Date: October 19, 2015
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
~ Synopsis ~
In the wake of the collapse of her father’s business empire, Flor, the gorgeous twenty-one year-old daughter of disgraced former Brazillionaire Gustavo de Lima, is forced to forge her own path in life.

Flor decides that none of it—the private jets, the vacation homes and the luxury cars—were real. Or at least they really didn’t matter. The only thing that’s real for Flor is her love of horses and her desire to go to veterinary school.

Heading into her final year of college, Flor seeks out the help of an unlikely benefactor to secure a summer internship working with horses. Arriving at the secluded Belo Horizonte ranch, Flor is awed not only by the majestic beauty of the place, but also by handsome cowboy and skilled horse trainer, Collin Taylor. Yet nothing is quite as it appears on the surface.

When the hidden past is revealed, will love end up blossoming for Flor?

~ Excerpt ~
Flor throws herself into work the next week, trying her best to forget about that touch. She does what she can to keep Paco and his inviting eyes at arms’ length as well. What for? She chides herself. In case Collin accepts her invitation for coffee? Even she has to laugh at that. But what then?
It’s only ten weeks until she leaves for Smith. Ten weeks isn’t a lot of time, but when you’re young, it’s certainly long enough to try to get to know someone.

“Are you interested in coming over tonight?” Paco asks Flor as she helps him sort out semen samples in the lab.
She closes the door to the small fridge and smiles. “To watch a movie?”
He chuckles and removes his gloves. Leaning toward her he says, “I was thinking along the lines of wine and music. But if you prefer a movie . . . .”
Flor shakes her head.
“No to the movie?” Paco asks, running his hands through his thick hair.
Flor watches, mesmerized by his smooth manner.
“I don’t get it, Flor. One moment, I think you’d like to get to know me, then the next, you act like you don’t.” He steps toward her. She remains frozen, his gaze holding her in place, her eyes watching his gorgeous lips move.
What did he just say?
“Usually I can tell when a woman is attracted to me, but you, I get mixed signals.” He reaches out and runs a finger along the back of her hand.
Nope, not even a flicker of electricity. Flor looks down and doesn’t answer. But still she’s extremely attracted to him. Her panties are wet, and it’s a struggle to control her breathing.
The Argentinian draws his long finger up to her chin. “You are incredibly beautiful, Flor,” he whispers. His face inches closer to hers, his blue/gray eyes searching hers. He wants permission and a part of her is screaming to give it as much as it’s screaming for her to leave. She closes her eyes and parts her lips, knowing it won’t feel right. She wants him to realize it too.
Paco’s lips are as soft as she imagined them to be. He reaches his hand around her neck and pulls her body to him, his tongue entering and searching for more. It feels better than Flor even imagined when she lay awake touching herself, picturing him covering her body with his mouth and tongue.
All of a sudden she’s on fire. Flor reaches up, her hands on either side of his face. Their kiss deepens as his hands begin to roam, slowly unleashing the desire she’s felt since she first laid eyes on him.
The kiss feels incredible. He’s truly an expert at reading a woman. His tongue traces her lips before biting down softly on her bottom lip. The sensation travels straight down to her sex, pulsing with need. That’s what this is now. Pure, unadulterated need. He sparked it in her, and now he’s stoking the fire with every touch, every kiss.
As Paco’s lips travel down her neck, she catches their reflection in the window. The image of them together with her in his arms, makes her stop. She wrenches herself out of his embrace.
“I’ve got to go,” she whispers.
Before Paco has a chance to respond, she’s already out the door. When Flor nears the house, she stops and leans against a large magnolia tree, slides down the trunk, and hugs her knees to her chest. Flor tries to push the image of her and Paco out of her head. He’s not the one she wants. It’s Collin.
Why these men and why now? She laments. In the few short weeks she’s been here, she’s allowed herself to be consumed by longing for one and being pursued by another. Is this karma? Flor wonders. The moment she determines she doesn’t want to fall in love or become entangled in anything the universe puts not one, but two desirable men in her path. Although one doesn’t seem to want her back.

Flor stands slowly, watching bees flit from flower to flower on the low hanging branches. No one thing or person is worth the energy at this point, she resolves. She’ll do as she pleases and let the chips fall where they may.

Is it possible to have a perfect life?

A perfect love?

Or is perfection just an illusion…

 ~ Excerpt ~
When Anna had arrived home earlier on in the afternoon, she found a note pushed under her door. A single sheet of cream coloured paper, covered in scratchy handwriting. At first Anna thought it could be as simple as a neighbour informing her about something that was going on in the building, but when she unfolded the paper she knew instantly what it was.

Another threat. Just like the ones James had already received.

Tell him to stay away from you or he will pay the ultimate price.

Anna had never been more terrified. James was a world away. This time she had to face this on her own. Anna began to shake. Her hands trembled and her knees felt weak beneath her. Not trusting her legs to hold her, Anna sunk onto the thick red rug and wrung her hands absentmindedly.

She was unable to think clearly. She ran to the phone and dialled Renee’s number. On the third attempt, it connected.

“Renee! Renee!”

“Anna? Is that you?” Ryan asked.
“Where’s…where’s Renee?” Anna barely managed to blurt out.

“She’s out. What’s the matter, Anna? What’s wrong?” Ryan soothed.

“Someone’s been here,” Anna panted frantically down the phone.

“Stay there. I’m on my way,” Ryan directed firmly. He quickly shot a text message to Renee.

Anna was scared. More scared than she ever imagined possible. Someone was after her. And it made her violently ill at the thought that they would hurt James to get at her. Or maybe it was as simple as someone wanting to scare the living daylights out of her. And if that’s what their aim was, then it worked. Anna was terrified. She sat slumped on the rug in the middle of the room, her arms wrapped around her legs, trying to make herself as small as possible. In her left hand she held the phone, while in her right a photo of her and James in happier times.
