Synopsis

Haunted by a painful past, Georgia Montgomery escapes the memories by buying a beach house on the North Carolina coast. She hopes a summer filled with sun, sand, margaritas and best friends will heal her, but when an unexpected visitor shows up, her past, present and future collide.

Georgia is instantly drawn to Tristan Howell, the bronze-skinned, golden-haired stranger with an easy smile and eyes the deepest shade of green she's ever seen. She tries to deny the depth of her feelings for him, but just like an addiction- one look, one touch, one taste is never enough. With Tristan she loses control of the lonely world she's constructed for herself and learns that moving forward isn't possible while she's still chained to the events of her past.

Before the summer is over friendships will be tested, hearts shattered and lives changed, and waiting for Georgia to find herself may destroy them all.

Review

This was my first read from Adriane Leigh and I absolutely loved it! This is not just your typical love triangle but more of a heart felt story about finding yourself. Sometimes you have to put yourself first. As people mature their lives change, feelings evolve and what may have been good for you in the past may not be what you need in the future.

Georgia and Kyle had met when she was 12 and has been by her side ever since. But the last few years had strained their relationship and Georgia felt like she was being swallowed up by her life in D.C. Georgia buys a beach house in North Carolina in hopes fixing it up over the summer with friends and turning it into a rental. Silas and Drew are her BFF's and Gavin is Drew's flavor of the month. When Drew and Gavin arrive they bring an unexpected guest along with them. Hello Captain Hottie...I mean Tristan. He's Gavin's business partner and friend. He sailed his boat down to spend the summer. I was pulling for Georgia and Tristan right from the start. Their chemistry had my kindle overheating.

I felt Georgia's sense of loyalty to Kyle being pulled by the playfulness of Tristan from his first smile at her. Kyle was her rock, her savior, her foundation. He was working very hard to secure the future they had planned since childhood. But all that work had taken its toll and Georgia was enjoying living in the moment and feeling carefree.

"I wanted to give my heart to both of the men in my life. I wanted to give Kyle the part of myself that needed the safety and comfort of his arms and I wanted to give Tristan the piece that craved the sense of lightness and happiness he made me feel." ~Georgia

Tristan is a walking billboard for hotness and Georgia is having a hard time resisting. It starts with a spark from just a smile, a glance or an embrace. It ignites into a raging fire and in the aftermath there is guilt.

It appeared at times that Georgia was just going through the motions because it was what was expected of her. As if she owed it to Kyle. But the heart wants what the heart wants. I think that Tristan's boat was almost a metaphor for him drifting through life hoping to find that one port that he could call home. I am definitely looking forward to see how the their story plays out in The Light of Mourning.
