~ Excerpt ~
Camryn still loves the newer stuff and the Civil Wars
more than anything and so that’s usually what we play.
Tonight will be no different.
I love watching her perform them next to me up on
stage because she becomes so vibrant and playful and sexy as hell. Not that she
isn’t all of those things already, but it’s like another more daring and flirty
side of her comes out when she’s singing. And she doesn’t just sing—she puts on
a show. I think it’s that little actress she’s always had buried somewhere in
herself. She told me she performed in plays at school, and I can definitely see
she has the knack for it.
But singing alongside me also seems to make her
happy, and that’s why tonight is so important.
“I’m so nervous,” Camryn says next to my ear, having
to speak loudly over the music.
I make a pffft
sound with my lips. “Oh, please. Since when do you get nervous anymore? We’ve
done this dozens of times.”
“I know, but I’m singing in front of your brother
this time.”
“He can’t sing for shit, so his opinion is hardly
valid.”
She smiles. “Well, I’m not nervous to the point that
I don’t want to do it. I guess it’s actually kind of exciting.”
“That’s my girl,” I say and lean in to kiss her lips.
“Those two girls,” Camryn yells to me without looking
in their direction, “front table to your left, they’re having sex with you in
their heads right now, I swear to God.”
I laugh lightly and shake my head. We’d started
picking people in the crowd to sing to lately.
“And that guy standing next to the woman in the
purple shirt,” I say, nodding subtly in his direction, “has had your thighs
wrapped around his head since you walked on this stage.”
“So it’ll be them tonight then, huh?” she asks.
I nod and say, “Uh-huh.”
“Make sure you give it to them good, baby,” she says,
grinning wickedly at me.
“Oh, I will,” I say with the same amount of wicked on
my face.

~ Review ~
Received and ARC from the Publisher in exchange for
an honest review
The Edge of Always is the 2nd installment
in the series. You must read The Edge of
Never before reading this book. I was
anxiously awaiting the release of this book to see where Camryn and Andrew
would end up. I loved this book and the way that the story unfolded had me anxiously awaiting the next page. That being said, the story picks up a few months after the end of
The Edge of Never with a pleasant surprise.
Andrew and Camryn are adjusting to life after
Andrew’s hospital stay and some life altering changes. They are determined to find a way to be true
to themselves and not conform to society’s rules about working a 9-5 job and
settling down.
But when more tragedy strikes again it could me more
than one of them can bare. I truly felt
the loss along with Camryn and Andrew.
It was easy to see why Camryn would shut herself down and look for an
escape to numb the pain. But when her
secret is revealed she is forced to face the harsh reality of the loss head on.
The loss changes Andrew too. You feel like he is walking on egg shells to
protect and comfort Camryn. He is afraid
to push her so he holds back. But his
determination to put the fire back in her eyes calls for a…ROAD TRIP!
“You didn’t run in that house because I told you
told, you did it because it’s what you wanted.
You’ve never done anything just because I told you to Camryn. I’m just the kick in your ass, is all.”
I absolutely loved all of the adventures that Cam and
Andrew experienced in The Edge of Never so I was looking forward to see what
J.A. Remderski had up her sleeve this time around. Let just say she did not disappoint.
I loved that fact that Andrew knew just how hard to push to crack the walls Camryn was building and that their love was strong enough to pull them through their darkest days and shine brightly into their future.
We find that the story comes full circle and that
Camryn and Andrew have stayed true to themselves while passing on their zest
for life. Of course, with any good story there are the ups and downs but this
is a ride worth taking, tears and all.
I
am looking forward to the upcoming book Song of the Fireflies that
will give us
the story of Elias and Bray, two new characters we are
introduced to in The Edge of Always.
