“LET
ME GO!” Daniel cackled like a mad
hyena, his fingers stabbing into my bicep. Without breaking his stride, he
stole me further away from the parlour and into the bowels of the house. I didn’t want to go. I didn’t want to
go anywhere with him. “Take me back!” I squirmed, doing my
best to return to Jethro. He can’t be dead! Just because he lay unmoving and
bloody didn’t mean he’d left me behind. That’s exactly what it means. I shook my head, dislodging those awful
thoughts. He’s alive. He had to be. I couldn’t tolerate any other answer.
I refused to live in a world where evil triumphed over good. That wasn’t
right—life couldn’t be that cruel. It’s always been that way. My mind filled with images of my
mother. My father’s desolation. My broken childhood. Evil had puppeteered us
from day one. Why should now be any different? He’s
not dead! I swallowed

Waiting for Fourth Debt to release felt like torture itself. However, I knew that once it hit my kindle I would devour this book as I have all of the previous books in this series. Pepper Winter's mind knows no bounds when it comes to the depths of darkness she can take you to. I will admit that after the way Third Debt ended I was a little afraid to dive in but I needed to know.
I can honestly say that I read this book in one sitting as I couldn't put it down. Nila's trials and tribulations that she experiences in the absence of Jethro keep you riveted to the story. Are things as they appear to be? Can anyone be trusted? Will Nila be able to withstand the repayments of the debts handed down by the remaining twisted Hawks?
I feared for Nila's safety as much as she did. Cringing, gasping and hoping against all hope that she had enough strength to endure the pain inflicted upon her while her potential executioners laughed at her expense. Would she be able to keep Vaughn safe too?
Daniel, Cut, Bonnie and Jasmine all seem to have the same objective but who will come out the winner? Who will be the one to extract the Final Debt and be left standing? I will eagerly be awaiting the 6th and final book in this series to see if a Weaver can survive the clutches of a Hawk.
If you are new to this story, you must start at the beginning. But once you start this journey you will not be able to stop. Grab your copy of Fourth Debt and see how far into the darkness Pepper Winters will take you this time.
