Release Day Review
Sustained
(The Legal Briefs #2)
by

Emma Chase
Release Date: August 25, 2015
~ Synopsis ~
A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.

When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.

Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.

Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I'm going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal's office.

Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.

And that — that, I know how to do.

~ Review ~
4.5 Stars for Drew & Chelsea and the brooding bunch!! Ahhh…..Jake Becker.  I totally fell for Jake.  His inner dialogue had me laughing, smiling and melting right from the start.  Charismatic, devilishly handsome and a smooth operator.  Well until his little mishap that causes a bout of celibacy.  {snickers}.

A run in with a “punk” kid on the street sets in motion a tidal wave Jake never saw coming. Trying to set the boy on the right track Jake decides to take the boy home to speak with his parents.  But what he gets is more than he bargained for.  Meet Chelsea, the woman about to change everything Jake Becker ever thought he wanted and then some. Chelsea not only reconvenes Jake’s libido but causes objection after objection.

I loved the family dynamic of this story.  It wasn’t just two people falling in love.  It was overcoming obstacles, finding out it was okay to need someone else and allowing yourself to grow.  I laughed, shed a few tears and felt my heart swell with the emotion of the story.

If you are new to the works of Emma Chase, let me be clear this is an amazing read. This is the second installment in the Legal Briefs Series but can be read as a standalone.  Get ready for Appealed, the next installment in this series featuring Brent, coming November 2015.
