If you are looking for a twisted version of love between two people look no further.   Well atleast for part of this book. The other portion of this book involves some self reflection/realization and finding something you not weren’t suure you were capable of. 

The relationship between Arsene and Grace is a twisted tale from the start.  A lacking family life sets their need to conquer and control from young age., constantly trying to out do the other. Obsession shadows what they believe is love.   

When tragedy strikes Arsene is reeling.  His purpose shaken. How does he recover from such a loss.  But as the circumstances unfold he finds himself befriending a widow, Winniefred.   

She has all the sass and spunk of a southern  belle. Everything that Arsene is not attracted to…..or is he? 

Winnefred aka Winnie is trying to accept the sudden loss of her husband. The loss compiling as she uncovers secrets he’s been hiding. Feeling foolish she flees the city for her hometown.  Only to find that she wants may still be in the big city. 

It took a little bit to warm up to Arsene but I grew to like his character.  I enjoyed his bantering conversations with his best friends. You could tell that the truly cared about each other.  

Grace …..I didn’t really find her 

likeable. She appeared deceitful and obtuse.  A spoiled rich girl we all love to hate.  

This book is in line with other books written by this author.  If you’re a fan of LJ Shen’s writing style you will enjoy this story too.
