Release Date: May 15, 2023

From USA Today bestselling author Ava Harrison comes a steamy standalone romance about a grumpy talent agent and the gorgeous business rival who can’t stand him.

He’s the hotshot agent who hates my guts.

I’m the (almost)
one-night stand turned business rival.

Imagine my surprise when Paxton Ramsey shows up across the boardroom table.

Gone is the sexy smirk, replaced by open hostility with a side of taunting.

His overbearing, grumpy attitude makes my blood boil.

But I can’t forget the taste of our kiss. The thrill of his touch.

Our clients expect us to work together.

I can’t even stand being in the same zip code.

Surely, I can survive one week trapped on an island with my nemesis?

Until one week turns into two. Then three. Then four.

When he flaunts his power to make my career dreams come true…

It takes everything in me not to ruin his.

Paxton Ramsey thinks he’ll be the death of me.

But I just might teach him how to live in the process.

Review

I was excited about Paxton’s book after being introduced to him in Provoke as Charles’ best friend.

Paxton and Mallory ignite a fire that fizzled out just as quickly as it started.  Their encounter leaving Mallory a bit embarrassed and Paxton a bit irritated.

Both working in the same industry at opposite ends of the spectrum they find themselves on set on a remote island with their disgruntled clients. There for damage control they find themselves in close proximity.  Neither willing to communicate until they are forced to.

Paxton was sexy and broody all at once.  Already having a preconceived opinion about Mallory based on who her father is causes Paxton to be snarky to Mallory even though he has feelings for her.

Mallory doesn’t know what to make of Paxton. She is just trying to salvage her career and trying to do right by her client.  All while trying to distance herself from her father’s name.

These two definitely had chemistry and there was a good amount of angst mixed with animosity.  I enjoyed watching them get together and hoped that they could really make a go of things.

I did feel that sometimes the story focused a little too much on their clients and the mishaps on the island.  I think I would have enjoyed the story even more if Paxton and Mallory was more centered on them.
