Undone
by
Rebecca Shea
~ Synopsis ~
I’ve found it’s easier to share my body but not my soul. I need no one, yet I crave her.
Self-assured and independent, she doesn’t need me—but she wants me, and undeniably I want her too. At war with myself as I battle the secrets of my past, I don’t know if I can allow her to see the darkest parts of me, the parts I’ve left untouched—undone.
As she chips away at the walls I’ve built for years, I fear those secrets will hold me hostage from love—forever.
**This book is New Adult and contains mature subject matter. It is not intended for those under 17 years of age.**
~ Excerpt ~
“What are you doing up?” I reach out and tuck a strand of her long
hair behind her ear.
“I thought you left,” she whispers. I don’t know how to respond to
her, because part of me
did want to leave—to flee where I don’t have to deal with these
unknown feelings. Feelings that
leave me scared to death. So instead of saying anything, I pull
her into a hug. I love that she’s so
tall. Her head fits right into the crook of my neck.
“You need to sleep,” I say quietly. “You have to be at work in a
few hours. Go rest; I’ll be
here when you wake up—I promise.”
She pulls away and looks at me skeptically, but nods her head and
shuffles down the hallway
toward her bedroom. Stopping just outside her door, she looks back
over her shoulder at me, then
turns around slowly, walking back to me. Without a word, she
weaves her fingers through mine
and walks us back to her bedroom. I don’t hesitate. In fact, I
long for her touch and grip her hand
tighter.
“Just lie with me,” she whispers, pressing her finger to my lips
so I can’t argue or refuse.
Pulling me toward the large bed, she pulls the covers back and
slides in, moving to the center. I
hesitate as I watch her, wondering if it will ever be possible to
“just lie with” her and not touch
her. Her long body stretches from the pillows to the end of the
bed, and her fair skin is begging
me to touch it.
Sliding in next to her, she pulls me to her. Wrapping her arm
across my waist, she rests her
head on my shoulder. She settles in as if she’s done it a thousand
times—and it feels natural,
right.
“Thank you, Landon,” she mumbles sleepily.
“For what?” I ask, confused.
“Trying. Thank you for trying.”

~ Review ~
This is Book 2 in the series and I was truly
waiting for the release of Undone to get a deeper look into Landon and Rebecca
did not disappoint. I totally LOVED this story and was not willing to put it
down. I found myself sneaking off to
read just to see what was coming next.
Now don’t get me wrong I was very happy that
Jess chose Gabe in Unbreakable, but I was kind of routing for Landon only because
he seemed so damaged. In Undone we delve
more into the past of Landon discover what actually makes him tick. Love ‘em and Leave ‘em. No attachments. That is pretty much the motto that Landon
goes by until a call takes him and Matt to a bar one night and he catches a glimpse
of Reagan.
Reagan catches his eye almost instantly but it’s
an unfamiliar feeling that has him coming back for more. She doesn’t cave at the sight of him or his
domineering ways. She can tell that he
usually gets what he wants but she’s going to make him work for it.
The banter and sexual innuendos that pass
between the two of them had me smirking at my kindle and laughing out
loud. Uncovering the layers of hurt that
both characters carry was an emotional ride for me as a reader and my heart
broke for each of them.
We also get to catch up with Lindsay, his
smartass sister and Matt, his partner. I
had a feeling there was more to the relationship with Lindsay and Matt although
it goes unspoken. Being the only two
people that know of Landon’s past made their determination to not let Landon sabotage
his relationship with Reagan that more real.
Just when I thought things would start to turn
around for these two there would be another ripple. Their relationship seemed to be like the ebb
and flow of the tide. Just when one of
them would start to move forward the other would pull back. There were a few occasions when I felt myself
pleading with my kindle for either Reagan or Landon to make the other choice but
like life….some of the best things are worth waiting for.
Do yourself a favor and introduce yourself to
Landon and Regan. Although this is the 2nd
book in the series and I think you would benefit from reading Unbreakable
first, this could be read as a standalone.
Looking forward to book 3 in the series…Matt & Lindsay’s story.
